Emilie Springer

Emilie Springer completed a PhD in cultural anthropology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in July 2019 as well as receiving an undergraduate minor in dance from Stanford University. Her dissertation is titled “Sea Change, Know Fish: Catching the Tales of Fish and Men in Cordova, Alaska.” Many of the chapters within it are pieces that have been performed live in FisherPoet events in Astoria, Oregon and various communities in Alaska. It also contains poetry as a tool for observation of the natural environment surrounding the community of Cordova, Alaska and the Copper River commercial salmon fishery.
